IHL’s Patterson to Keynote Delta State’s Spring Commencement

Aubrey Patterson, member of the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning Board of Trustees, will deliver the keynote address at Delta State University’s 2009 spring commencement on Saturday, May 9, at 10 a.m. inside the Walter Sillers Coliseum on campus. 

 
Patterson is chairman and chief executive officer of BancorpSouth, Inc., a $11.8 billion-asset bank holding company whose subsidiary bank operates 270 banking locations in Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana.  He has served as president and chief operation officer from 1983 to 1991, and as chairman and chief executive officer from 1991 to the present. BancorpSouth is now the 47th largest bank holding company in the U.S. 
 
A graduate of Ole Miss, Patterson holds a Masters degree from Michigan State University. He has completed the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin and is a member of several professional organizations, including Beta Gamma Sigma and Beta Alpha Psi honoraries.
 
In 1997, he was honored by election to the Mississippi Business Hall of Fame. 
 
Delta State is expected to graduate an estimated 475 students during its spring commencement. Each graduate will receive six tickets for family and friends. Tickets are required for entry.

Any audience overflow will be accommodated in the Jacobs Conference Center in Ewing Hall on campus, where family and friends will be able to view the ceremony by way of a live broadcast.
