The Delta State University Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Paul Hankins, will present its annual spring concert Thursday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Delta and Pine Land Theater of the Bologna Performing Arts Center.
The Jazz Ensemble is a sixteen to eighteen-piece big band populated by both music majors and non-music majors. A wide variety of music is programmed throughout the year with musical styles ranging from swing, bebop, fusion, and funk, to salsa, Brazilian, New Orleans groove, and hip hop.
The evening programming will include Back in Blue Orleans, Gravy Waltz, and No Snooze Blues, as well as Big Band era tunes Take the ‘A’ Train, and Pennsylvania 6-5000.
