A trio of exhibitors earned recognition for their outstanding efforts at the 5th Annual Delta Health and Wellness Day (DHWD), held recently inside the Bolivar County Expo Center.

Delta State University’s first-year Outdoor Recreation Director, Todd M. Davis nabbed the “Most Engaging” booth prize for his “Team-Building” exercises inside the inaugural “TeenZone” component of the event.

Ann Twiner, Area Health Agent with Mississippi State University-Extension Services, earned “Most Informative” honors for her “What’s in Your Food?” exhibit. Twiner is a repeat recipient of the award.

Bolivar Medical Center took home top honors on the day, garnering the “Best Overall” booth prize. The Cleveland hospital debuted a new exhibit, while also sponsoring several screenings for the event.

Over 1,000 residents participated in the regionally-recognized healthcare fair with a majority taking advantage of the many free screenings. Delta Health and Wellness Day offered vision screenings, hearing tests, bone density scans, memory scans (for Alzheimer’s), spirometry which measures lung function and can assess conditions such as asthma or pulmonary fibrosis, as well as blood pressure checks, blood sugar screenings and cholesterol testing.

Sponsored by Delta State through its Center for Community and Economic Development and in cooperation with the Leaders of Delta Health and Wellness, the event was recognized as part of Delta State’s Year of Partnership.
