Scope and Content:

The Jacqueline Fuqua Collection contains records from J.D. and Ella Montroy who were Mrs. Fuqua’s great-grandparents.   Among those papers are:  Petition for Probate of Will and Letters Testamentary of J.N. Montroy, Ella Montroy granted Executrix of J.D. Montroy estate dated October 7, 1921, Chancery Clerk John W. Johnson statement in the matter of J.D. Montroy, Deed of Trust dated 1908 from F.L. Finley to Mrs. Ella Montroy for the sale of forty acres of land in Sunflower County for $1,600, Letter of Probate for J.D. Montroy dated October 7, 1921.  Deed containing 40 acres to secure $1,500 loan by Mrs. Ella Montroy dated March 19, 1925.

 

The collection also contains a large seashell brought back by Civil War veteran Seabron G. Jones who reported to having eaten the contents of the shell, and a brass spy glass used by Seabron Jones.  In addition, there is a one page genealogical listing of births, marriages, and deaths beginning with Seabron G. Jones in 1836.
