Biographical Sketch:
Marshall Ramsey is from Marietta, Georgia and attended the University of Tennessee in
Knoxville where he received a degree in marketing in 1991. While at UT, Ramsey was the staff
cartoonist for its student newspaper, The Daily Beacon. Since then, Ramsey has been nominated
for five Pulitzer Prizes (he was named a finalist in 2002) and appeared in many top magazines.
He is currently the staff cartoonist for the Clarion-Ledger and is syndicated nationally by Copley
News Service.
Scope and Content:
This is a collection of 37 political cartoons concerning Mississippi legislator Charles W. Capps,
Jr. They are the original sketches drawn by Ramsey on sketch board. Each of these cartoons
concerning legislator Capps appeared in the Clarion Ledger from the late ’90s until 2002.
