Biographical Sketch:

Florence was the daughter of Colonel Elisha and Mary Carson Warfield.  Florence was one of eleven children, eight of whom grew to maturity.  Florence married Walter Sillers, a lawyer and planter in Rosedale, when she was seventeen years old.  Their family eventually included six children.  Florence was as devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren as she was to the civic organizations, including state and local societies of the Daughters of American Revolution, Colonial Dames, Farm Bureau Federation, Delta Council, Red Cross and the Rosedale Country Club.  Florence was a member of the Methodist Church and for twenty years was treasurer of the King’s Daughters Hospital of Rosedale.

Patriotic citizen Florence Warfield Sillers recorded and printed the history for the Bolivar County. She devoted approximately 12 years to the early history of the delta. She was the founder and organizer of Bolivar County DAR (National Society Daughters of the American Revolution); she also was part of the Texas State Historical Association, State Historical Society and Colonial Dames.

Scope and Content:

This collection consists of various correspondences collected by Florence Warfield Sillers, and other miscellaneous materials including news clippings and invoices from plantation business from 1930 – 1935.
