“Delta State Teachers College has been approved for membership in the American Association of University Women, President William M. Kethley said Saturday. This action was taken at the AAUW meeting, now in session in Minneapolis, Minn., following a visit of inspection of the college earlier this year. For an institution to qualify for membership, it must have a high academic rating, provide a basic foundation for general education, have adequate provisions for women students, give significant recognition to women in the faculty and administration, and maintain academic freedom in its administrative and teaching bodies. All alumnae of Delta State having approved degrees are eligible for membership in the AAUW regardless of the date when the degree was conferred.”
