Education Specialist in Educational Administration and Supervision

CHANGES MADE TO THE ADMISSION REQUIREMENT FOR THE WRITING ASSESSMENT BEGINNING SUMMER 2024

A passing score on a department administered writing proficiency assessment or submit a minimum score on the Praxis CORE Writing of 162.

The Graduate Writing Assessment will be administered virtually on:

1st Monday of May (May 6)
1st Monday of June (June 3)
1st Monday of August (August 5)
1st Monday of December (December 2)

The Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration and Supervision is a 30 credit-hour, online program centered around K-12 administration. The Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration and Supervision provides the following two tracks: Initial Licensure and Career Level. The Initial Licensure track curriculum is for candidates seeking to receive their K-12 administrator license. The Career Level track curriculum is for existing K-12 administrators.

  • 30 hour program, 10 courses
  • can be completed in 1 year
  • all courses offered online
  • enroll any semester
  • focused on Professional Standards for Education Leaders (PSEL)
  • successful completion of the program and a passing SLLA score leads to licensure in Mississippi

Goals
#1  – Produce graduates who are instructional leaders, act with integrity, are change agents, focus on continuous improvement, and engage the larger community.
#2 – To serve participating educational leaders by sharing academic resources, providing avenues of collaboration, and facilitating relevant research.

Delta State University is pleased to offer credit toward Educational Specialist and Doctorate of Professional Studies degrees in Educational Administration and Supervision (EAS) for successful completers of the National Institute for School Leadership (NISL) professional development program.

In order to be completely admitted to a graduate program, applicants have to be admitted to the university and satisfy the standards set by the selected degree program.

Program coursework provides the knowledge needed to pass the SLLA licensure exam. Standards from the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium are incorporated throughout the program. Hands-on experience and classes combine leadership theory and practice to prepare students for the industry.

To graduate from the program, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Complete all program of study coursework
  • Establish and maintain an adequate rating on the Professional Dispositions Rating Scale
  • Successfully complete the comprehensive examination
  • Maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA on program coursework
