Raymond to present senior recital at Delta State

The Department of Music at Delta State University will present Joe B. Raymond III, music education major, in his senior recital Thursday, Feb. 25, at 1:40 p.m., in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center on the campus. 

 
Dr. Kumiko Shimizu, staff accompanist and assistant professor of music as Delta State, will accompany Raymond.
 
Raymond is the son of Joe and Phyllis Raymond Jr., of Gulfport. He is a trombone student of Dr. Douglas L. Mark, assistant professor of low brass. 
 
Since coming to Delta State, Raymond has performed with the Delta State Wind Ensemble, the Delta State Marching Statesmen, the Delta State Trombone Quartet, the Delta State Low Brass Ensemble, Delta Jazz Band, the Delta State Steel Band, and Delta Singers. 
 
He has also performed with the Capital Regiment and Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps, and is currently the President of the local chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity. 
 
Raymond will be performing literature by Baroque composer Giovanni Pergolessi, a Nazi party inspired war march by German – born Paul Hindemith, a slow moving waltz by Austrian violinist Fritz Kreisler, and an easy moving French Ballade composed by Eugene Bozza.
