Ms. Jayla Isom, Mezzo-soprano, and Dr. Kumiko Shimizu, piano

| Jayla Isom is a mezzo-soprano majoring in music at Delta State University and will perform her senior recital on Thursday, April 22 at 1:40 P.M. in the Bologna Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The event will also be live-streamed on the DSU Dept. of Music Facebook page.
Ms. Isom is from Memphis, TN, and is the daughter of Willie and LaTosha Isom. Since attending DSU in 2017, Jayla has performed with the DSU Chorale, DSU Chamber singers, and the DSU Opera and Musical Theater program. Ms. Isom also got the opportunity to attend and compete for two years in a row at the National Opera Conference. One of Ms. Isom’s favorite moment from her undergraduate career is the DSU Chorale tour during her first year at Delta State. Ms. Isom is from the voice studios of Dr. Jamie Dahman and Dr. Laurissa Backlin. She and Dr. Shimizu is will be performing arias and art songs by Charles Gounod, Florence B. Price, Franz Liszt, and Antonio Vivaldi. |
