Delta State’s Tabb completes economic development training

Dr. Myrtis Tabb, Senior Administrator, Special Projects at Delta State University recently completed Session II of the Economic Development Institute (OU/EDI) conducted by the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The Institute is a three-session program, each one week long, which provides a broad spectrum of advanced education for the economic development professional and is accredited by the International Economic Development Council.

OU/EDI classes focus on the three major core areas Finance, Real Estate and Business Retention & Expansion as well as areas of concentration in Marketing, Strategic Planning, and Managing Economic Development Organizations. Students take 117 hours of instruction selected from nearly 50 possible classes, workshops and discussion groups.

Of the training Tabb remarked, “The training provided through the Economic Development Institute is top caliber. I am fortunate to have participated and feel what I have learned can be applied immediately in my community and economic development work with local communities through Delta State University.”

Tabb and Deborah Moore, Director, Center for Community and Economic Development, were recently notified that they had received a scholarship for further study from the Mississippi Economic Development Council, Inc. Scholarship Committee (MEDC) in Jackson, Miss. Funding for the scholarship program is provided by the Mississippi Economic Development Council, Entergy Corporation, Mississippi Power Company and the Mississippi Development Authority in order to enhance knowledge of the development profession.
