Award-winning photographer Magdalena Soléto to lecture at the Wright Art Center Gallery

The Delta State Department of Art and the First Tuesday Committee will present a lecture by Magdalena Solé on Tuesday, October 16 from 12:15-1 p.m. in the Wright Art Center Gallery.  Solé is a social documentary photographer known for her sensitive representations of marginalized cultural groups from across the globe.  Her latest book “New Delta Rising” is the culmination of a year interviewing and photographing hundreds of residents of the Mississippi Delta. “New Delta Rising” was published by the University Press of Mississippi in early 2012. It won the Silver Award in 2011 at PX3 Prix de la Photographie. Her last film, Man On Wire, for which she was the unit production manager, won an Oscar in 2009. Her works has been exhibited in the United States, Europe and Asia.

First Tuesday features lectures, readings, and presentations representing diverse perspectives in the arts and humanities. The First Tuesday programs are free and open to the public. For more information, call 846-4720.
