Art department provides additional TV screening

The Delta State University Department of Art will host a screening of the television show “Art:21- Art in the 21st Century” on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. in Holcombe-Norwood Annex 151.

This event is the pre-screening of episode three from the show’s seventh season. Artists in this episode use life experiences and family heritage to explore new aesthetic terrain. Featured artists include Wolfgang Laib, Tania Bruguera and Abraham Cruxvillegas.

Art:21″ is a Peabody Award-winning documentary series on Public Broadcasting that partners with organizations worldwide to host events. The season profiles 12 artists who reveal how art can inspire and transform lives and communities.

Museums, schools, libraries, art spaces, community centers and universities worldwide are hosting screenings of the show. Each event features the exclusive advance of one-to-four episodes from season seven.

These events are presented in partnership with Americans for the Arts, the YMCA and the National Alliance for Media Arts and Culture. An updated list of venues providing screenings worldwide can be found at www.art21.org/access.
