Children’s book comes to life at BPAC

The Bologna Performing Arts Center presents "Room on the Broom" Nov. 13 as part of the School-Time Matinee Series.

The Bologna Performing Arts Center welcomes Tall Stories Theatre Company of London, England, on Nov. 13 for the performance of “Room on the Broom,” a musical based on the beloved children’s book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

Showing once at 9:30 a.m. and again at 11:30 a.m., the production is is recommended for school groups and families with children in pre-k through third grade, with curriculum connections in language arts, literature, science, fine arts and community values.

The performance is part of the BPAC’s School-Time Matinee Series.

The Sunday Times has described the show as “55 minutes of high-energy treat.”

The witch and her cat are flying happily on their broomstick – until a stormy wind blows away the witch’s hat, bow and wand. A helpful dog, bird and frog find the witch’s lost things, and they all hop on the broom for a ride. But this broomstick’s not meant for five and – CRACK – the broom snaps in two. When a hungry dragon appears, who will save the poor witch? And will there ever be room on the broom for everyone?

“Room on the Broom” is locally sponsored by Monsanto Company.
