Claire Cole was recently named the July 2015 Delta State University Employee of the Month. The Delta State University Staff Council recently honored Claire Cole as the July 2015 Employee of the Month. Cole is the administrative secretary for the President’s Office and the vice president of University Relations.
The Delta State alumna and Clarksdale, Miss. native began working for the university in June of 2014. In her role, she provides clerical and administrative services, and assists all staff members in the President’s Suite.
Cole is a two-time graduate of Delta State, receiving her Bachelor’s of Business Administration in May of 2012 and her Master’s of Business Administration with an emphasis in Health Care Administration in December of 2013.
During her time as a student, Cole worked in the President’s Office as well as the office of the vice president for Student Affairs. Prior to working at Delta State, she worked for Medicaid-Cleveland Regional Office as a Medicaid specialist.
Employee of the Month distinction is given to a staff member who has provided service at Delta State that is considered over and beyond those duties outlined in his or her job description. Nominations are submitted by colleagues on campus.
Each winner receives a plaque, monetary award, WalMart gift card from the Student Government Association, an engraved insulated coffee mug, a free parking decal courtesy of the Campus Police Department, a box of treats from The Sweetery, a parking spot of their choice, marquee announcement and website recognition.

Delta State’s Staff Council serves as a liaison between the administration and the staff to provide a formal process for staff to discuss issues involving university policies and procedures and to forward ideas, recommendations and opinions to the president.
