Delta State to host Young Alumni Tailgate Party

By September 14, 2012General

The Delta State Alumni Association will host the third annual Young Alumni Tailgating party, Friday, September 21, in conjunction with Pig Pickin’ events. The event is at 7 p.m. in Statesmen Park. Food and libations will be served and entertainment will be provided by Back 40.

“We’d like to encourage any and all young alumni that are going to be in the Cleveland area the weekend of Pig Pickin’ to please make every effort to be in Statesmen Park Friday night,” said Will Bradham, vice president of the Bolivar County Alumni Chapter. “The more people we can get out there, the better, and we’re looking to have our biggest crowd yet.

Those who attend the event Friday night can register to win an iPhone 5.

“We’d love for all young alumni to come hear Back 40 play in Statesmen Park Friday night. Saturday, there will also be a young alumni tent in the park during Pig Pickin’ festivities,” said Lana Aguzzi, the Young Alumni representative on the National Alumni Association Board of Directors. “Join us there and sign up to win a free iPhone 5!”

A Young Alumnus is defined as anyone who is 36 years of age or younger. Each year, the Alumni Association honors one Young Alumnus with the Kent Wyatt Young Alumnus Service Award. This award is presented to a young alumnus who has given outstanding service and contributions to Delta State University. The award is given out each year at Homecoming during the Alumni Awards and Gala Dinner.
