Members of the Delta State Alumni Association can add a new addition to the list of membership benefits. The Alumni Association recently teamed up with School Cast to implement a Priority Text Messaging Service. The alumni staff will utilize the service to text members about upcoming events in their area. If the Alumni Association is going to host a chapter meeting, alumni in that area will receive an alert. This will help alumni stay connected to their alma mater.
“The Alumni Association is always looking for ways to expand its benefits to members,” said Jeffrey Farris, director of alumni affairs. “This is another way for us to be proactive in engaging our alumni in both university and alumni events.”
The service is free to dues-paying members. If you are currently a member of the Alumni Association, please call 662-846-4660 to add your mobile number to the list.
“We are very excited to announce this new membership benefit,” said Jordan Thomas, assistant director of alumni affairs. “We sent our first text message out today to remind all of our alumni about Pig Pickin’ this weekend, and so far we’ve gotten a great response. If you didn’t receive the message, please let us know, so we can add your number to our list.”
Other membership benefits include: a personalized membership card, the official Delta State Alumni Association automobile decal, a 10 percent discount to the Delta State Barnes and Noble Bookstore, a subscription to the Delta State Alumni magazine, a monthly E-newsletter, priority mailings for Delta State events, eligibility for alumni awards, eligibility for children to receive the Hugh E. Walker Scholarship and Out of State Tuition Waiver, and the satisfaction that you are making a difference at Delta State University with your annual or life membership.
