Delta State University orientation leaders are busy training as they prepare to welcome new students to the Delta State campus in the coming weeks.

“The 2012 Orientation Team has been working tirelessly to prepare for the upcoming orientation sessions,” said Student Director Mary Lawson Barlow. “Phone calls, practicing skits, and meeting with department chairs and the heads of various offices around campus, are all essential to the success of our orientation sessions and the future of our university. It is so important that each student and parent leaves orientation satisfied and eager to return to our campus in the fall.”

Delta State University’s orientation program is designed to familiarize new students and their parents with university policies and procedures, while introducing them to faculty, staff, students, and campus life.

“This is an outstanding group that has been working extremely hard since January,” said Elsie Lynn Ervin, director of student life/orientation.  “Being an orientation leader is one of the most important positions a student can hold on this campus. Orientation leaders serve as recruiters, planners, educators, entertainers, and counselors, and they introduce every aspect of college life at Delta State University to new students and their parents.”

The dates for orientation are June 8 and July 13 for transfer students and June 11-12, June 18-19, and July 9-10 for freshmen. To register, go to the orientation.deltastate.edu.
