School-based Asthma Management Program Celebrates Asthma Awareness Month

In the United States one out of every 10 school-aged children has asthma.  Asthma is one of the most common chronic childhood diseases and is a leading cause of emergency hospital visits and school absenteeism in Mississippi.

In response to these alarming statistics, and in an effort to raise public awareness of the risks faced everyday by almost 25 million Americans living with asthma, the School-based Asthma Management (S.A.M.) program is joining the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to participate in Asthma Awareness Month and World Asthma Day. S.A.M. will host a 5K walk/ run on April 28 at Delta State Center for Community and Economic Development in Cleveland.

Group of 5 per participant $ 20   Group of 10 per participant $15
Registration packs include water bottles, t-shirts, number for shirt, and other gifts.
Prizes for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners in three different categories.

All across the world, events are being held in May as part of Asthma Awareness Month. Each event will raise awareness about indoor and outdoor pollutants that trigger asthma and ways to prevent asthma episodes.
