Delta State Launches OKRAMobile

By April 13, 2012General

Delta State University has launched the new OKRAMobile app that makes essential university resources available on mobile devices. Students can check grades, access course content and browse the course catalog. Users can access the public directory and get in touch instantly, keep tabs on Statesmen sports, find places on the campus map, stay informed with the latest campus news, watch videos, access social media, and much more.

“Delta State’s Office of Information Technology developed the applications using Ellucian’s Mobile Framework,” said Chief Information Officer Dr. Edwin Craft.  “Our goal is to offer the best in technology and access, and that means making Delta State services and information available to mobile users. We expect OKRAMobile to be popular with current and prospective students, parents, alumni and other members of the Delta State family.”

To promote the app, members of Delta State’s OIT team manned a booth and provided information about downloading the app during Delta State’s Spring Fest on Thursday.  The Delta State Office of Communications and Marketing developed an initial awareness campaign that includes the launch party, a social media campaign, signage in high traffic locations, and a promotional video featuring The Fighting Okra.

“It actually is a huge stress reliever,” said Thomas Wetzel, senior Political Science major from Yazoo City. “Whether I need to search classes, check exam times, game times, or catch up on the latest university news, it’s great to know that I have an app for that at my fingertips.”

OKRAMobile is available in the Apple App Store and the Android Market. For questions about the OKRAMobile app or for new ideas to enhance future releases of the app, please send an email to okramobile@deltastate.edu.
