Piano Duo Recital featuring Jacob Clark and Jung- Wong Shin to perform at the Bologna Performing Arts Center

Jung-Won ShinGuest pianist Jacob Clark, assistant professor of music at South Carolina State University comes back to Delta State University for a piano duo recital with Jung-Won Shin, assistant professor of music at Delta State.  This piano duo recital will be presented in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at 7:30 p.m.  The recital will feature works for piano four hands by Beethoven, Brahms, and Fauré, and a work for two pianos by Rachmaninoff.

Jacob ClarkAn active performer, Jacob Clark has presented recitals in venues such as the Kosciuszko Foundation Auditorium in New York, the historic Church of the Epiphany in Washington DC, the Mansion at Strathmore in Bethesda, Maryland, the University of Texas at Austin, Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, Delta State University, and Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. In addition, he performed his Washington concerto debut with the Washington Sinfonietta orchestra and has appeared with the Ars Nova Chamber Orchestra.

Clark has been awarded prizes in several competitions, most notably being named a prizewinner in the Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition, Sidney Wright Accompanying Competition, and he obtained the Janice K. Hodges Contemporary Piano Performance Award.

Clark received his musical education primarily in Texas, completing his B.M., M.M. and D.MA in piano performance at the University of Texas at Austin where his primary solo instructors were David Renner and Nancy Garrett.  

Clark joined the faculty of South Carolina State University in August 2011 as assistant professor of piano.  His previous faculty appointments include adjunct instructor at Northern Virginia Community College and piano instructor at the prestigious Levine School of Music in Washington, DC where he taught both group and individual piano.
