Delta State’s Baird to receive Mississippi Humanities Award

Duncan BairdDelta State University Associate Professor of Art Duncan Baird will be awarded The Mississippi Humanities Council’s 2011-12 Teacher Award on Tuesday, November 15 at 7 p.m. in Wright Art Gallery on the campus. The award, funded by the Mississippi Humanities Council to commemorate Arts and Humanities Month, is presented to one educator from each institution of higher learning in the state of Mississippi. Winners of the award receive $500 and will be recognized at the Mississippi Humanities Council’s annual awards dinner in February 2012.

As part of the awards presentation, Baird will present a lecture entitled, “Re-experiencing Home.”  The lecture focuses on his work over the last 10 years. The presentation is made possible through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to the Mississippi Humanities Council.
