The Bologna Perfoming Arts Center presents BLAST!

The Tony and Emmy Award-winning show BLAST! combines different musical styles, energetic percussion and vivid visual performance to create a dynamic viewing experience. BLAST! comes to the Bologna Performing Arts Center at Delta State University on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at 7:30pm.

BLAST! is comprised of 35 brass, percussion and visual performers brought together in a unique explosion of music and theatre. Attendees will see BLAST! thunderstorm through a program that mixes classical, jazz, blues and other musical genres with intense choreography performed with astounding precision.

According to Bruce McCabe of the Boston Globe: “BLAST! is an exuberant 15-number show that doesn’t falter while bridging the categories of classical, blues, jazz, rock n roll, and techno-pop music. Blast! stands, blows, pounds, marches, and whirls with panache. It sent a full house into repeated bursts of cheering and applause.”

BLAST! is directed by James Mason, recipient of the 2001 Tony Award for Best Theatrical Event (BLAST!) and nominee for the 2002 National Broadway Theatre Award for Best Musical (BLAST!).  He was also nominated in the Best Director category for the 2002 National Broadway Theatre Award (BLAST!).  Mason has been the creative driving force behind the Star of Indiana/Blast Inc. since its founding in the fall of 1984 and served as its President/Executive Director.

Mason has produced and created entertainment for Disney’s Epcot Center and California Adventure theme parks along with Six Flags Fiesta Texas where his show won a coveted IAAPA Award.  He has also created for countless corporate and sporting events ranging from the NBA All Star Game and US Open Tennis Championship to opening the Detroit Auto Show for Mercedes Benz.

Come and enjoy this cast of young, wildly creative accomplished musicians as they bring you an intense musical experience with breathtaking precision.
