Delta State’s Continuing Education offers line up of classes in September

Delta State University Continuing Education will be offering large line up of classes that will engage everyone during the upcoming weeks including several new classes such as Grant Writing 101 and Microsoft Excel classes.

Grant Writing 101:
Continuing Education has partnered with Robin Boyles from the Institutional Grants Department on campus to offer a Grant Writing workshop. The following topics will be discussed during the workshop: justifying your need, developing goals, objectives, and timelines, program development and evaluation, and building collaborations/partnerships. It is open to Non Profit Organizations, School Administration, Program Directors, Healthcare Providers, Teachers, and any other interested party. The workshop will be on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Simmons room of the DSU Alumni House. The cost of the class is $50 and CEU credits are available for an extra charge of $15.

GMAT Workshop:
Prospective MBA students will find that the training, assistance, and preparation offered in this course will leave them ready to take the real test. This prep workshop will be held on Mondays, Sept. 12 – Oct. 17 from 3 – 6 p.m. in Broom Hall room 114 on campus. Cost is $85 per person for six weeks and prep materials/books are included in the cost.

After School Arts:
Students in 1st-6th grade will learn techniques used to create individual works of art. Jondelyn Catlette will be the instructor of the class. This class will be held on Thursdays, Sept. 15 – Nov. 17 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. in room 111 of the Wright Art Building on campus. Cost is $125 per child for nine weeks.   

Beginner/Intermediate Microsoft Excel:
Learn the basics, data entry, filtering, and graphs during this workshop for the Microsoft Office program, Excel.  Personal Excel issues will also be discussed and worked through. This class will meet on Thursdays, Sept. 22 – Oct. 6 from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Bibliography room of the DSU Roberts-LaForge Library.   The cost of the class is $60 for three sessions.  CEU credit is also available for an extra charge of $15

English as a Second Language:
Improve your prospects in America by learning English. This class is open to all people speaking any language. Paul Kossman will instruct this course that will meet on Thursdays, Sept. 8 – Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. Whether you are just starting to learn English or you are a moderate speaker, please join us in Ewing Hall room 226. The class will continue through the fall semester and costs $50.
