Hearn inducted into Delta State University Student Hall of Fame

Emily HearnEmily Claire Hearn, an international business graduate from Millington, Tenn., was inducted into the Delta State University 2010-11 Student Hall of Fame. She is a member of Delta Mu Delta, Sigma Delta Pi, and Omicron Delta Kappa. Hearn has served as an orientation leader, a housing resident assistant and was selected by her peers as Greek Woman of the Year in 2011. Hearn was a member of the Delta State softball team for three years. She was the Attorney General, Multicultural Affairs Chairman and served this past year as President of the Student Government Association. She was  also elected Senior Class Favorite.

Hearn is a member of Tri-Delta fraternity and has been selected as National Field Consultant for 2011-2012. She was also selected Tri-Delta Model New Member and Pan-Hellenic Model New Member. She is a member of Delta State Honors College, Student Body Presidents Council, Business Student Advisory Council, and has been honored by the Mississippi Legislature as Delta State University’s Outstanding Student. Hearn received the Management and Marketing Student Excellence Award and the General Business Administrator Award. Hearn is a Dean’s and President’s List Scholar and has been selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. She is the daughter of Beth and Ricky Hearn.

The Hall of Fame was begun in 1972 to recognize outstanding students. It is the single highest honor bestowed upon any Delta State University student based on outstanding accomplishments in all phases of college life. A maximum of eight students comprise the Student Hall of Fame each year. The selection is made by a committee of students, faculty, and staff appointed by university deans and vice-presidents.

The Hall of Fame Banquet and induction ceremonies were held Friday, May 6, in the State Room of the H.L. Nowell Union. The annual event is sponsored by the Student Alumni Association and the Student Government Association.
