Each spring, the Delta State University Chapter of ODK selects a first year student who shows good leadership qualities to receive the ODK Freshman Leadership Award.  The recipient should exhibit such qualities as a high grade point average, a propensity to be active in campus and community affairs, and an assumption of leadership role.

Hagenson landed a 4.0 GPA at the end of her first semester at Delta State. She also excelled outside of the classroom setting four of the top-10 5K times in Lady Statesmen Cross Country team history.  She was also selected as Freshman of the Year for the 2010-2011 United States Track & Field Coaches Association.

Hagenson is also a member of the Poplarville United Methodist Church.
