Delta State holds annual Woodall Spring Conference

The 30th Annual F. E. Woodall Spring Conference for Helping Professions was recently held in James M. Ewing Hall on the campus of Delta State University. The conference was hosted by the Division of Counselor Education and Psychology and Chi Sigma Iota in the College of Education.

Over 140 professionals and students attended the one day conference.  Dr. Don W. Locke, College of Education Dean from Mississippi College and president-elect of the American Counseling Association (ACA) was the keynote speaker for the luncheon. Locke captivated his audience as he spoke on “Future of Counseling and Being Change Agents.”
 
The conference attendees were able to choose from 18 content sessions presented by teachers, counselor educators, psychology faculty and students, social workers, counselor education students, and licensed therapists. Each presenter used various ways to present their research in a creative way through the use toys, art, poetry, PowerPoint, lectures, and more.  

Several local businesses helped to make the conference more enjoyable through their generous donations for door prizes, goodie bags, and gift certificates. Exhibitors were on-site to provide information on programs and resources available to the helping professions.  The Division of Counselor Education and Psychology, Delta State University Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota sponsored the conference and many faculty, staff, and many Delta State Counseling Education students volunteered to help make the day a success.
