Delta State University Chamber Singers

The Delta State University Chamber Singers will present a service of Choral Evensong at 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, at Calvary Episcopal Church in Cleveland.

The Chamber Singers are under the direction of Dr. Richard Waters, associate professor of music and director of choral activities at Delta State. They will be accompanied on the organ by Dr. Mark Butler, professor of music and interim chair of the Department of Music. The Rev. Bailey Norman, Rector at Calvary Episcopal Church, will serve as the officiant.

This fully sung service of evening prayer, which dates back to the 1600s, features several musical selections by the choir, as well as congregational singing and hymns. Music has been composed for the service by some of the most notable composers of the English choral tradition. The service will include the canticles “Magnificat” and “Nunc dimittis” by the celebrated English composer Herbert Howells, an anthem by Delta State alumnus Andrew Owen, and additional music by Thomas Tallis and Richard Waters.

The public is cordially invited to attend. For more information, contact Dr. Waters at 662-846-4115 or e-mail rwaters@deltastate.edu.
