Delta State faculty members inducted into national honor society

Delta State University faculty members from left; Tricia Walker, director of the Delta Music Institute; Julie Massie Speakes, chair of the Department of Commercial Aviation; Ashley Beckett Soliz, instructor in accountancy; Rebecca Hochradel, assistant professor of marketing and Gwen P. Meador, instructor in accountancy, were recently inducted into the Delta State chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa.

Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, was founded in 1914, with the idea that leadership of exceptional quality and versatility in college should be recognized. It was the first college honor society of a national scope to give recognition and honor for meritorious leadership and service in extracurricular activities and to encourage development of general campus citizenship. Chapters are located on over 300 campuses throughout the nation.

The Society recognizes achievement in the following five areas: scholarship; athletics; campus/ community service, social/religious activities, and campus government; journalism, speech and the mass media; and creative and performing arts.

The induction was held in the Lena Roberts Sillers Chapel on the campus.
