Delta State to sponsor Youth Entrepreneurial Program

The collaborative partnership of Delta State University’s AmeriCorps* VISTA Program, Center for Community and Economic Development, College of Business,and the Cleveland Youth Council, will sponsor a Youth Entrepreneurial Program (Y.E.P.) class IV during the month of June. 

 
The class will be held from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday, June 7 – June 30, at the Center for Community and Economic Development. The job shadowing process will take place on Fridays.
 
An end of the program celebration and a poster symposium will be held on the last day of the class. There will be three top winners chosen from the class to receive cash scholarships. The 1st place prize is $1000, 2nd place $600, and 3rd place $400.  
 
This is an interactive course geared towards helping minority high school entering juniors and seniors become business owners and entrepreneurs.
 
The curriculum incorporates a variety of educational training techniques including classroom lectures, interactive activities, and job shadowing at local businesses
 
Participants will learn real world business skills: team building, leadership development, financial management, verbal communication, and business etiquette through interactive learning sessions and exercises. Participants will also learn how to successfully negotiate for business materials, set goals, and recognize real business opportunities.
