Delta State visiting assistant professor of history receives dissertation award

Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in Cleveland, Ohio, has awarded Benjamin Sperry the annual Frank R. Borchert Prize in History for "the best dissertation or thesis by a student in the history department." 

 

Sperry is spending the current academic year at Delta State as a visiting assistant professor of history. He is scheduled to receive his Ph.D. in history from CWRU next month. 

 

His dissertation is titled: "Caught ‘Between Their Moral and Material Selves’: Mississippi’s Elite White Moderates and Their Role in Changing Race Relations, 1945-1956."
