Delta State to offer finals week stress reliever

By April 29, 2010General

Come spend your lunch time relaxing and making music during finals week with the Delta State University Community Drumming Ensemble. This West African drumming group will hold a traditional Doundounba (drumming and dance party) at noon, May 6, in the grassy area between the Bologna Performing Arts Center and Zeigel Hall on the campus.

The performance will feature drumming rhythms, songs, and dances from West Africa. Audience members can join in the dancing, grab an instrument and play along, or just sit and enjoy the engaging sounds of the djembe ensemble.

The ensemble comprised of Delta State students and faculty, and area community members, is led by Dr. Karen Fosheim, professor of music at Delta State.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Fosheim at (662) 846-4622 or e-mail kfosheim@deltastate.edu
