Delta State to honor retirees; recognize others for service

Delta State University will honor employees who are retiring and award service pins to others at a Retirement Service Award Ceremony at 2 p.m. April 30, in the State Room of the H.L. Nowell Union on the campus.

 
Brenda Bassie, laundry worker; Ray Bridges, assistant athletic director; Jess Brookhart, associate professor of accounting; Jessie Eatmon, grounds man; Mary Jane Ervin, senior secretary; Sharon Ford,  associate professor of accounting; Rebecca Foster, director of university accounting; Peggy Gladden, administrative secretary, president emeritus; Amy Gore, laundry worker; Hazel Hilley, transcript clerk; Loretta Holmes, library assistant II; Bonnie Horton, instructor in English; Lavorne Jones, laundry worker; Houston Longino, purchasing supervisor; Malcolm McEwen, professor of science education; Charles Murrah, police officer; Collier Parker, dean of Arts and Sciences; Frieda Quon, IRC librarian; Sondra Rakes-Pedersen, professor of elementary education; Mary Robbins, senior secretary; Sally  Rogers, administrative secretary; Linda Ross, director of H.L. Nowell Union; Frances Scarborough, library assistant II; Billy Silas, painter; Paul Starkey, chair and professor of Management, Marketing, and Business Administration; James  Strawbridge, director of distance learning, will retire at the close of the 2009-2010 academic year.
 
Gloria  Enriquez, senior secretary; Rebecca Finley, assistant registrar; Jill Harper, instructor in chemistry; Bert Herbison, senior secretary; Frankie Jones, laundry worker; Carlysle Meek, professor of physics;  Rosie Pippins, custodian, and  Sally Rogers, administrative secretary, will receive their 20-year service pins.      
 
Rene’e Foster, instructor in marketing, and Gerald Myles, custodian, will receive their 25-year service pins.
 
Gloria Brister, chair of Speech and Hearing Sciences, and Elizabeth Sarcone, professor of English, will receive their 30-year service pins.
       
Wayne Blansett, vice president for Student Affairs, and Joe Garrison, professor of teacher education, will receive his 35-year service pins.
 
Family and friends of those being honored are invited to attend the ceremony and reception.
