Tailgating is a long-standing tradition that brings together alumni, students, faculty, staff, and fans to celebrate Statesmen athletics. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, the following guidelines apply:
Tailgating Locations
- Statesmen Park
- Designated as the primary tailgating location.
- Tailgating space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- The University may elect to reserve spaces for special events, projects, or groups within the University.
- Amplified music is not permitted at Statesmen Park.
- Any tailgate with amplified music will be asked to turn it off.
- The Quad
- Space is available to anyone wishing to have amplified sound during their tailgate, including during the game.
- Any group seeking to tailgate in this area must request a reservation for space through the Vice President for Student Affairs.
- Registration ensures adequate planning for space, safety, and services
- Space will be reserved based upon space availability and order of registration.
- The University reserves the right to place organizations in proximity to each other before consideration of when a registration was received.
- Space reservation must occur through the Vice President for Student Affairs no less than two (2) days before a game
- No later than 5 pm on the preceding Thursday before Saturday games
- No later than 5 pm on the preceding Tuesday before Thursday games.
General Guidelines
- Friday Night Tailgating
- Tailgating is permitted the night before game day.
- Setup may begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
- All activities must end, and areas cleared by 11:59 pm.
- Tailgating may be limited or canceled due to inclement weather or other safety concerns.
- Game Day Tailgating
- Setup may begin no earlier than 6:00 a.m. on game day.
- All activities must conclude, and areas cleared by 11:59 pm.
- Tailgating may be limited or canceled due to inclement weather or other safety concerns.
- Alcohol Consumption
- All participants are expected to follow university policies, state laws, and safety regulations regarding alcohol consumption.
- Personal glass containers are prohibited on The Quad and Statesman Park.
Conduct & Safety
- Alcohol consumption must comply with Mississippi state law.
- Glass containers are prohibited.
- Tailgaters are responsible for cleaning their areas before departure.

Where to Tailgate
- Statesmen Park – open to all ❗ No amplified music here — if you bring speakers, you’ll be asked to turn them off.
- The Quad – reserved for anyone seeking to have amplified sound. 🎶
Registration Required
All groups must register with the Vice President for Student Affairs by 10/15/25 to lock in your spot on the Quad!
When to Tailgate
- Friday Night – setup starts at 4:00 p.m. and all areas must be cleared by 11:59 pm.
- Game Day – setup begins at 6:00 a.m., and everything must wrap up by 11:59 pm.
Other Reminders
- No glass containers 🍾
- Clean up your space 🧹
