“Play Ball: A History of Sports in the Delta” is a brand new exhibit on display in the Charles W. Capps, Jr. Archives & Museum building’s main gallery. It opens to the public on September 15, and coincides with the University’s 91st anniversary of students on campus. Both academics and athletics have played an active role in the college experience since the University‘s establishment in 1924. From trophies and uniforms to film footage and photographs, the exhibit shares some highlights from our students’ sporting adventures. The community is also represented in this local exhibit with items on loan from area high school students and alumni, collectors of the Cotton States League memorabilia, and members of travel ball and park commission ball teams.
