CLEVELAND, Miss. — This fall, Delta State University proudly welcomes representation from 45 countries within its diverse student body. Among its international community, DSU recently had the honor of hosting Brazilian alumnus Brunno Santos, who returned to campus for the first time since his graduation in 2011.

Santos, originally from São Paulo, Brazil, transferred to Delta State from Coffeyville Community College in 2009. During his time at DSU, he was an active member of Phi Theta Kappa and played for the DSU men’s soccer team. In 2011, he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in General Business Administration and Management, an achievement that set the stage for a successful career in the technology industry.

Since returning to Brazil, Santos has built an impressive professional portfolio, working at globally renowned tech companies such as Cisco, Dell Technologies, and Meta. Currently, he serves as the Regional Director for monday.com in São Paulo, where he oversees a multi-million-dollar operation, coaches a high-talent team, and drives go-to-market strategies to support the company’s growth.

During his visit to campus, Santos expressed his gratitude for the opportunities and experiences he gained at Delta State. “I am very thankful for the opportunity to have attended Delta State. It completely changed my life, both professionally and personally. I learned so much that I wanted to come back to see the people and the campus and express my thanks for the opportunity,” he said.

Michelle Johansen, Assistant Coordinator of International Student Services at Delta State, welcomed Santos back to campus. “I am so thrilled that Brunno came back to visit. We just featured him in our International Students Newsletter as one of our Alumni Spotlights. It’s always great when international alumni can come back for a visit,” she said.

Santos also took the time to meet with Delta State University President Dr. Daniel J. Ennis to convey his appreciation. “It was such a great opportunity to graduate from Delta State University. A lot of the things that I have accomplished in my career were because of my experience here. Michelle has been doing such a great job with the international students, and coming to Delta State as an international student, the southern hospitality and how friendly you guys are, makes a huge difference for us. I am glad I had an opportunity to talk to Dr. Ennis about that and express my gratitude,” Santos added.

Looking ahead, Santos expressed his desire to give back to the Delta State community by supporting current international students. “I want to show them that the journey is worth it. When you dedicate yourself, put the right energy in, you can be successful from a professional standpoint when you go back to your home country. I would love to be involved more, that’s why I am coming back. I want to see what the future holds,” he said.

Delta State University continues to celebrate the achievements of its international alumni and looks forward to fostering strong connections that span across borders. For more information, visitwww.deltastate.edu/student-success-center/international-student-services/.
