Annual Bolivar County Alumni Crawfish Boil set for April 14, presale tickets now available

CLEVELAND, Miss.—The aroma of piping hot crawfish seasoned to perfection will once again fill the air of Delta State University’s iconic Quadrangle during the Bolivar County Alumni Crawfish Boil, set for Thursday, April 14.

Hosted by Delta State’s Bolivar County Alumni Chapter and the Alumni Association, the annual event will kick-off at 5:30 p.m. at the Quad and will feature entertainment, food, games and activities for all to enjoy.

Proceeds from the event will support the Liza Vaughn Memorial Scholarship, named in memory of past assistant director of Alumni Affairs, Liza Vaughn, who lost her battle with cancer in April of 2012. The scholarship supports deserving Delta State students from Bolivar County who display financial need.

“I want to invite everyone to come out and enjoy a fun-filled evening with your Bolivar County DSU family in support of a great cause to benefit future Statesmen,” said Shane Howell ’06, president of Bolivar County Alumni Chapter.

This year’s event will feature live entertainment by Chris Boykin ’12. It will also mark the return of the Crawfish King and Queen. Holding this year’s coveted title as Crawfish King is Dr. Wayne Blansett ’73, ’74, and the Crawfish Queen is Vicki Fioranelli ’68.

A Kids Zone featuring a bouncy house, yard games and corn hole (courtesy of DSU Intramurals) will also be available as well as Mac’s Shaved Ice.

“We cannot wait to see all of our wonderful alumni and friends from Bolivar County,” said Amanda Robinson ’10, interim alumni director. “This event could not be possible without the help from our incredible volunteers and sponsors throughout the community.”

Pre-sale tickets are available for $30, and tickets will be $35 the day of the event.  This year’s crawfish vendor is The Pharm, and platters will include 3lbs of crawfish, sausage, plus corn and potatoes.
