Court Street to Cleveland event rescheduled

By October 27, 2011General

Due to inclement weather ,the Court Street to Cleveland kickoff event titled “I Walked to Lunch Today” scheduled for today has been rescheduled for next Thursday, November 3, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

The Court Street to Cleveland program is sponsored by the Delta State University College of Education’s Healthy Campus/Community Initiative, a health program funded by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation. Recognizing Court Street as a connection between Delta State University and downtown Cleveland, the goal of the program is to encourage people to exercise and make Court Street a viable pedestrian corridor.

Participants must check in at the Court Street to Cleveland booth that will be located at the three way stop at Fifth Avenue and South Court Street to receive a button/sticker identifying them as participants. From there, each participant will walk downtown to the restaurant of his/her choosing, receive the discount on lunch, and then walk back. We are hoping that all community members will join our event and enjoy a new, exciting social setting for lunch. There will be door prizes drawn to encourage participation for individuals and groups.

The Healthy Campus/Community Initiative has proven their commitment to emphasize fitness by getting people active and walking.
