Delta State student Jessi Malatesta (right), a senior from Gulf Shores, Ala., majoring in English with minors in Spanish and Art, was recently presented The Jack Winton Gunn Award by Delta State University Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ann Lotven.
The Jack Winton Gunn Award is a cash award that is given for overall academic excellence in honor of the former Dean of the University. It is among the highest honors and awards presented at Delta State University.
Malatesta was also awarded the Evelyn Hammett Scholarship given annually to an English major with outstanding writing skills. The awards were presented during the recent Delta State University College of Arts and Sciences Scholarship Reception held in the H.L. Nowell Union.
