DSU’s Wiley Planetarium & Delta Music Institute present Laser Fantasy

CLEVELAND, Miss. — Delta State University is excited to announce Laser Fantasy, a series of immersive music laser shows hosted at the DSU Planetarium and co-produced by students in the Delta Music Institute’s (DMI) Live Event Practicum course. Starting November 6, the series will feature dazzling laser light displays set to the music of Daft Punk, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, and Prince, providing a unique experience for the campus community.

Each show will synchronize breathtaking visuals to these artists’ most popular songs, delivering a memorable experience under the dome. Audiences can expect to be transported through Daft Punk’s electronic rhythms, Taylor Swift’s chart-topping hits, The Weeknd’s soulful melodies, and Prince’s legendary soundscapes.

This event offers DMI students a practical opportunity to hone skills they have gained in their junior and senior years. Through DMI 425 Live Event Practicum, a two-semester course led by Associate Professor of Practice of Entertainment Industry Studies Charly Abraham, students majoring in entertainment industry studies develop a strong foundation in the planning, promotion, and execution of live events in various campus and community venues. Laser Fantasy showcases their work, from event concept to delivery, offering invaluable industry experience.

Richard Tremmel, Director of DMI Entertainment Industry Studies, praised the series, saying, “The importance of practical learning opportunities like this in building real-world skills for students can’t be overstated.”
