The scholarship is named for Hugh Ellis Walker, a 1952 graduate of Delta State. In 1969, he joined Delta State as alumni secretary, serving in that post until 1987 when he was named executive director of the Alumni-Foundation. The Hugh Ellis Walker Alumni-Foundation House was dedicated in his honor in 1996. Mr. Walker recently met the 2012-2013 recipients of the scholarship.
“It was a pleasure to meet those who received the alumni scholarship,” said Walker. “We need more. The more we have, the more students we can bring in. I’m proud to be a part of this project.”
