The Mississippi Quilters Guild held its annual meeting last weekend in Cleveland hosted by the quilting store Ella Rose. Over 150 quilters were in attendance from across the state.
The quilters met at Grover’s Corner on Friday evening where they enjoyed a barbeque supper with entertainment by Bill Abel. Lee Aylward of the Delta Center for Culture and Learning provided an introduction to the Delta’s rich cultural heritage followed by more entertainment from The Boomers, a musical group from Southaven. A tee-shirt quilting demonstration from Dot Bright and Jan McCain plus Molly Rusing and her quilts topped off the evening.
The Saturday agenda included more quilts and a talk “Mama’s Dream” by Carol Ivy, the daughter of Ethel Wright Mohamed. Many vendors attended with supplies for the quilters.
