  • Performance Evaluation and Expenditure Review (PEER) – Subject index to all PEER reports. “Created in 1973, PEER provides the Legislature with timely and accurate information on Mississippi state government in order to enable that body to perform its function of legislative oversight. PEER analyzes state agency programs and operations and helps the Legislature make state government more effective, efficient and accountable.” (from PEER FAQ Web page) Several reports contain data on expenditures and financial statements of key agencies such as the department of education, gaming commission, and department of corrections.

  • Department of Revenue – On this website of the Mississippi Department of Revenue, you can access annual reports dating back to 2004. In the annual reports, you can find data regarding sales tax, use tax, income tax, and other topics. You can also access monthly statistics on this website.
  • Economy at a Glance: Mississippi – On this web page of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, you can access data pertaining to Mississippi’s labor force, employments, and other relevant topics.

On this website, you can search for state, school, or district data in the website’s search box.   • Annual Survey of State and Local Government Finances – This is a resource of the U.S. Census Bureau. According to the website, “this survey is the only source of nationwide, comprehensive local government finance information. It provides statistics on revenue, expenditure, debt, and assets for the 50 states and D.C.”
  • National Association of State Budget Officers – This site includes information briefs along with larger publications. You can click links to view data. For example, you can click the “Reports & Data” link at the top of the website to view a fiscal survey of a state, a state expenditure report, or other reports or information.

Health

  • County Health Statistics: Mississippi – Lists aggregated data on select health outcomes, health behavior, clinical care, and socioeconomic factors for each Mississippi county. This web site is developed by Forum One Communications, in collaboration with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin’s Mobilizing Action Toward Community Health (MATCH) project.
  • Epidemiology – Reports on several diseases affecting Mississippians.

  • Mississippi Crime Statistics – On this website, you can search for and find statistics on violent crimes, property crimes, and society crimes. You can limit your search results by jurisdiction (county, police department, sheriff’s department, etc.). You can also limit your search results by year (2016 – present).
  • Mississippi Department of Corrections – To find statistics on the MDOC website, click the “General Public” link in the upper right corner. On the General Public web page, you can click the appropriate links to view data such as daily inmate population and net admissions by fiscal year. Reports are also available from this web page.
  • State of Mississippi Judiciary: Annual Reports – On this web page of the State of Mississippi Judiciary’s Administrative Office of Courts, you can access annual reports produced by the Mississippi Supreme Court and annual reports from other groups.
