Biography
Donna Spell joined our team as our Academic Program Manager in 2018 but has been with Delta State University since 2002 as an English instructor. She is now serving the Center for Interdisciplinary Geospatial Information Technologies as Academic Advisor and Program Manager, responsible for advising our students and student employees and for helping develop the academic program. Ms. Spell serves the community on boards of the Emmett Till Memorial Commission for Racial Reconciliation and the Greenwood Little Theatre. She has taught at Valdosta State University and the University of Alabama but was raised here in the rural Mississippi Delta. Ms. Spell enjoyed coursework at Vanderbilt University and Oxford University and holds a B. A. from the University of Mississippi and her M. A. in English from the University of Alabama. She has been a big fan of maps since before age 15 when her mother sent her on a 13 hour solo drive to the Atlantic coast with a paper map marked with a magic marker.
