Senior Baritone and Music Education Major Austin Means Senior Recital on Sept. 12

Senior baritone and music education major Austin Means will present his senior recital on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 1:40 PM in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center. The recital, presented by the Delta State University Department of Music, is free and open to the public.

He will be joined by collaborative pianist Dr. Kumiko Shimizu, professor of music. They will perform works by Charles Griffes, Howard Swanson, Jean-Paul Martini, Erik Satie, Franz Schubert, Dong-Seong Chae, and Kim Tae-seong.

Means has been an active member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity, serving as chapter president in 2018-19. He is also an active member of Kappa Sigma men’s fraternity. Means will student teach in spring 2020 and is on schedule to graduate in May. He also has been featured as a soloist with the DSU Chorale and has performed several semesters with the Opera Scenes program. He is a student of Dr. Jamie Dahman, assistant professor of music.
