What does this award mean to you? “It’s a great honor and humbling to be recognized for my efforts.”

What do you like best about your job? “Communicating with the faculty/staff and providing a needed service.”

What do you like best about Delta State? “The sense of family and the support we provide to our community and the surrounding areas.”

What do you like best about living in the Mississippi Delta? “The genuine warmth and hospitality of the people.”

From nominator Emily Jones, university archivist, ’99: “Susan exemplifies collegiality. She works hard to be as knowledgeable about all aspects of her responsibilities as she possibly can so that she can teach everyone with whom she works how to navigate systems that seem overwhelming at times. She makes it look effortless and always has a smile to ease anxiety and offer encouragement. Outside of the office, Susan has been a wonderfully dependable volunteer with the Mississippi Delta Chinese Heritage Museum, meeting guests on the weekends and always offering to provide a dessert or snack for meetings and events.”

The award is sponsored by the Incentives & Recognition Committee and Dr. James Robinson. Each prize package includes a complimentary campus parking decal, box of sweet treats, gift card, a tote provided by Graduate & Continuing Studies, and a certificate signed by Delta State University President William N. LaForge. Each January, a luncheon is held to celebrate the previous year’s Employees of the Month as well as to recognize Robinson on the occasion of his birthday.
