2018 Bolivar County Alumni Chapter Crawfish Boil Join hundreds of Green and White faithful for good eatin’, toe-tappin’ music, and friendly visitin’ at the annual Bolivar County Alumni Chapter Crawfish Boil. Hosted by the Delta State University National Alumni Association, the family-friendly tailgating-type event will take place at 5:30 PM on Thursday, April 11 on the lawn of the Walter Sillers Coliseum on the DSU campus.
On the menu: crawfish and BBQ. Children age 12 and younger eat free pizza courtesy of Domino’s. Kids also can play in bounce houses. The musical lineup: Cleveland Central High School Jazz Band at 5:30 PM and The InsideOut Band, covering classic soul and rock, at 6:30 PM. The king and queen of the crawfish boil will be announced at 6 PM.
Proceeds benefit the Liza Vaughn Memorial Scholarship. Awarded annually to incoming Delta State students from Bolivar County, the scholarship, formerly known as the Bolivar County Alumni Chapter Scholarship, is named for former Assistant Alumni Director Liza Jordan Vaughn who lost her battle with cancer in April 2012. Participants also can purchase raffle tickets for a custom-made DSU cornhole set and a custom-made coffee table. There also will be drawings for various items donated by local businesses.
“We cannot wait to see all of our wonderful alumni and friends from Bolivar County,” said Amanda Robinson, interim alumni director. “This event could not be possible without the help from our incredible volunteers and sponsors throughout the community.”
