Cleveland School District and North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra present concert

The Bologna Performing Arts Center presents a special program titled “Link Up: The Orchestra Moves” on March 21 at 1 p.m. The North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra and elementary students from the Cleveland School District will collaborate to perform in this unique concert.

Over the past two months, students from Hayes Cooper Center, H.M. Nailor Elementary, Parks Elementary and Pearman Elementary have been working diligently in their music classes to prepare for the performance by following a comprehensive music curriculum provided by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute.

The curriculum has allowed the students to explore movement within music — including melody, rhythm and harmony — as well as how music moves those who experience it. The culminating performance will give students the opportunity to sing and play an instrument from their seats, while the orchestra plays from the stage.

“Link Up: The Orchestra Moves” is free and open to the public. Please call Whitney Cummins, BPAC Arts Education coordinator, at 622-846-4844 for more information about the event.

The program is sponsored in part by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute and the Mississippi Arts Commission.
