Five Little Monkeys swings into the Bologna Center

By February 1, 2014Bologna Performing Arts Center

The Bologna Performing Arts Center was jumping with excitement as over 2,100 enthusiastic young students filled the theater to experience sold-out performances of Five Little Monkeys presented by Adventure Musical Theater Center.

Students traveled to the BPAC from several counties across the Delta, including Bolivar, Coahoma, Grenada, Leflore, Sunflower, Washington and West Tallahatchie. In an effort to make Five Little Monkeys a quality educational experience, the BPAC Arts Education Department supplied all teachers and families with an educational supplement, which included several learning activities designed to reinforce curriculum connections both before and after the performance.

Based on the wildly popular children’s book series, Five Little Monkeys features Mama Monkey and her five little monkeys going shopping, baking cakes, sitting in trees and jumping on beds. In this zany play, all in cumulative verse, five silly simian siblings insist on doing things their own way and – heedless of admonitions – much more monkey mayhem ensues.

Students in the theater had a blast as they laughed along with the monkeys’ wacky antics and clever jokes. After seeing this high-energy and colorful production, students and adults left the Bologna Center with smiling faces.

The Bologna’s School-Time Matinee Series will present one more educational performance in 2014. Black Violin, a unique musical concert that combines the elements of classical and hip hop music, is scheduled for March 4, at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. The musical is recommended for second grade and up. Please call the BPAC Arts Education office at 662-846-4844 to reserve tickets.
