CLEVELAND, Miss. \u2014<\/strong> Fighting Okra Records, the experiential learning activity of Delta State University\u2019s Record Label Practicum course in the Delta Music Institute released the label\u2019s 4th<\/sup> compilation album on October 26 at Hey Joe\u2019s in Cleveland. The release party included performances by some of the artists whose songs are featured on the album.<\/p>\n

Fighting Okra Records is the student-run record label at DSU and the primary experiential learning activity of the DMI 419 and DMI 420 courses. The purpose of the record label is to provide a practical, real-world entertainment industry experience for students while providing a variety of independent artists with professional quality music and entertainment industry services.<\/p>\n

The album features songs by Will Hulbert, Lero, D. Moon, Arabella, Clayton Moulder & David Cho, Thomas \u201cLittle Killer\u201d Sanders, Drew Pulliam, Saylor, Cocoa Barrett, and Savannah Rose. CDs and Fighting Okra Records t-shirts were on sale at the venue.<\/p>\n

The instructor for the record label practicum class Ben Yarbrough, Assistant Professor of Entertainment Industry Studies, said, \u201cI am extremely proud of these students; it\u2019s quite an achievement to be able to put together an album of this type so soon in the semester.\u201d<\/p>\n
